Start Screen, the jewel of Windows 8, is not only an eye candy but extremely helpful to find all the apps and settings hard-coded in Windows at our fingertips. We have seen many articles on how to get back the classic Start Menu and disable Modern interface in Windows 8 for those who hate the Start Screen. But I have never discussed anything for those who love it.
So today I will show you how you can beautify your Windows 8 Start Screen by adding personal photo tiles to it. Custom Tiles Maker allows you to create custom tiles for your Windows 8. So let’s see how the app works in Windows 8.
Custom Tile Maker for Windows 8
1. Download and install Custom Tile Maker on Windows 8 from the App Store. This is a Modern Windows 8 app and need to be installed from the Windows Store itself. Simply search for Custom Tile Maker in Store and install it.
2. After you install the app, launch it using the Start Screen icon. After you launch the app the first thing it will ask you for is the photo you want to make the tile collage for. You will have to search for the photo using the Windows 8 Modern interface itself which might be difficult if you are have not used it before.
3. Once you select the photo you would like to apply, the app will ask you the design of the tiles and split the photo accordingly. You will now have to double click/tap the tiles individually to pin it to Start Screen.
4. After pinning the tiles have a look at your Start Screen to see if the changes were made. You might have to arrange the tiles manually.
